LUCAS

Cold Fury Hockey #7

by

Sawyer Bennett

✮✮✮ 4 STARS ✮✮✮

Lucas Fournier is only serious about one thing: hockey. The league’s fun-loving charmer, Luc is always up for a good prank or a great lay, and he has no intention of settling down. But being traded to the Carolina Cold Fury—and to play alongside his big brother, Max—is no joke. With another title in sight, the last thing Luc wants is to let his new teammates down. To succeed, Luc will need to keep his head in the game and the most . . . er, demanding member of his anatomy in check. But when temptation hits, Luc hits back harder.

Museum curator Stephanie Frazier has always put business before pleasure, which just about explains her nonexistent sex life. But when Stephanie meets Luc at a champagne-fueled gala, she finds herself flirting like crazy—and going home with the uninhibited athlete. For one night, she learns what passion is all about. She just never counted on the little surprise Luc leaves behind. And that’s when things really start to get . . . interesting.

Lucas Fournier is one of the newest additions to the Cold Fury and Max's brother. He comes from a loving family and that's what he wants for himself one day but he isn't quite there yet. Right now Luc enjoys the life of being single and a hockey player who can go home with a different woman every night. When he meets Stephanie he is happy that they are on the same page but after their passionate night both of their lives are being turned around and they have to adjust to their new situation and join forces.

Yes, I'm being deliberately vague. I think readers will enjoy this story most if they go in with as little information about the plot as possible.

Stephanie Frazier's life is pretty straight forward and she makes sure it stays that way - there is no room for relationships, not for the friend-kind and not for the lover-kind either. She shies away from any kind of commitment and when I found out why all I wanted to do was hug her.

Lucas is getting too close, and his words affect me in two different ways. They make me want so much with him, and they make me want to shut the door firmly on the possibility.

She frustrated the hell out of me but I really understood why she was the way she was and handled their relationship the way she did. That's why her epiphany in the end was a little too unrealistic and I would have liked to see a constant growth throughout the story - that's what I found a bit lacking. Yet, Stephy was a marvelous heroine who was worthy of one of the Fournier boys.

Luc has a deeply seated sense of responsibility, despite his player-ways. His family means everything to him.  He cares about Stephy and has no problem showing it. He is super patient and sweet with her. Once Luc decides that he wants this wonderful yet broken woman for the long haul it is all or nothing. I really loved that about him - he didn't miss his player life and focused on his future with Stephanie.

He thinks my time is the most extravagant gift in the world.

He has a bit of a TSTL moment - which seems to be a theme in the Cold Fury books - most of the heroes seem to have those - and for a short time he went from awesome to douchebag but thankfully that didn't last long.

I love Sawyer Bennett's Cold Fury Hockey series. She doesn't experiment with these stories but gives us exactly what we expect and love about them - an entertaining, sweet and sexy sports romance with fabulous characters. Next up is Van and boy he's a grumpy dude. I can't wait for him to be brought to his knees by yet another Fournier family member.
